Educational Philosophy

We believe a real education prepares the human being for an informed and happy life. Happiness, being attained by seeking the pleasure of Allah. Modern education focuses on the concepts of standards or skills, whereas at Oakwood Classical Academy our primary purpose is the formation of thoughtful and purposeful human beings.

In modern times, more than ever, children need to learn to think well, to spot fallacies and the manipulation of advertising and media messaging. When children are given important ideas to think about and engage with their natural curiosity with the support of their teachers leads them to read well, write well, and to compute well.

Our curriculum is strongly language centered with the sciences and the liberal arts as a foundation for our teaching. Students receive daily instruction in religion, history, language and mathematics. Students schedules also include regular instruction in the arts, Arabic, logic, critical thinking, and Islamic music. The Golden Age of Islam was profoundly centered around discovery of every nature. Muslim’s explored the sciences and made great discoveries in astronomy, medicine, mathematics, the arts, and engaged in the discussion of various philosophies. Currently, there are vast discoveries to be made in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Green and Renewable Energy, Biodynamic Gardening, Ethical Medical Practices.
